Presence of Terrorists Near Iran's Borders is Intolerable, Says Iranian Foreign Minister
The Iranian proposal for establishing peace in Nagorno-Karabakh is aimed at the peaceful resolution of the conflict. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
In an interview with Iranian public television, he announced that from the very beginning of the escalation in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, Iran has been negotiating with Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, and Turkey.
“We believe that war will cause the greatest harm to the countries of the region, which is why these countries can exert the maximum influence on the issue of ceasefire. In this context, we are conducting negotiations,” he said, noting that Iran's initiative does not compete with other conflict resolution mechanisms, such as the OSCE Minsk Group format.
Zarif mentioned that he has held effective negotiations with the leaders of Armenia, Russia, Turkey, and Azerbaijan. According to him, the uniqueness of Iran’s initiative lies in the fact that it is not just about a temporary ceasefire but is aimed at resolving disagreements based on the two sides' adherence to certain principles, after which further steps will be taken.
The Foreign Minister also addressed the involvement of terrorists, stating that the presence of terrorists near Iran's borders is intolerable.
