Pompeo Considers Possible Sanctions Against Belarus
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has stated that sanctions may be imposed against Belarus, and that the interruption of oil supplies is likely, as reported by TASS.
“What should we do, either unilaterally or multilaterally, to achieve favorable outcomes for the citizens of Belarus? Should we make a decision on this issue through sanctions, or by halting supplies?” Pompeo noted.
The Secretary of State emphasized the need to work with the European Union in responding to the events in Belarus. “We are extremely concerned about the elections held in Belarus and are deeply disappointed that the voting was not free and fair,” Pompeo added.
