Ambassador of Azerbaijan Arrested in Serbia
The Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Eldar Hasanov, has been arrested in Serbia. He is suspected of embezzlement of large sums of money and the misappropriation of budgetary funds. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the State Security Service of Azerbaijan.
The State Security Service states that during financial audits, substantial suspicions arose that the ambassador had spent significant budgetary resources in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina for purposes other than their intended use and committed other legal violations.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. Hasanov has been detained in the capacity of a suspect.
