President Armen Sarkissian Visits the Border Village of Chinari
During a working visit to Tavush province, President Armen Sarkissian, accompanied by the leader of the Tavush Diocese, Bishop Bagrat Galstanyan, and Tavush governor Hayk Chobanyan, visited the border village of Chinari. Chinari is located at the hottest point of Armenia's northeastern border, with Azerbaijani military positions directly adjacent to the village.
Under constant surveillance from the Azerbaijani side, the village is a target of periodic gunfire from the adversary. Last month, Chinari was at the center of military operations initiated by Azerbaijan in the northeastern section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and suffered shelling from the enemy.
President Sarkissian visited Chinari's school, which had been significantly damaged due to the shelling, with property also suffering damage. Through the donation from the President's sons, Hayk and Vardan Sarkissian, the school received furniture (tables, chairs, cabinets) as well as computer equipment.
