Parliamentary and Presidential Elections Held in Artsakh
Today, on March 31, parliamentary and presidential elections have commenced in Artsakh. All polling stations opened at 08:00. There are 14 candidates for the position of the President of the Republic, while 10 parties and 2 party alliances are participating in the National Assembly elections.
The Central Electoral Commission has established the sample ballots for the presidential and National Assembly elections of the Republic of Artsakh, dated March 31, 2020. The presidential ballot is pink, while the National Assembly ballot is white, protected by special watercolors in both colors.
As of March 21, there were 14 civil society organizations accredited to conduct monitoring, comprising 807 representatives, as well as representatives from 37 media outlets totaling 197.
There are 282 polling stations in operation, of which one is located in Armenia. It is important to note that 14 candidates have been nominated for the presidential position, including self-nominations such as Sergey Amiryan, Kristine Balayan, Eduard Dadayan, Bella Alalayan, Masis Mayilyan, and Melik Poghosyan. The candidates nominated by political parties include David Babayan from the Artsakh Conservative Party, Vahan Badasyan from the United Armenia Party, Vitali Balasanyan from the Justice Party, David Ishkhanyan from the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, Ruslan Israyelyan from the Independent Generation Party, Hayk Khanumyan from the National Revival Party, Ashot Ghulyan from the Democratic Party, and Arayik Harutyunyan from the Free Homeland-KMD alliance.
