Azerbaijani Citizen Surrenders to Armenian Border Guards to Avoid Trial in Azerbaijan; NSS Remains Silent
According to Factor.am, on March 12, 2020, an Azerbaijani citizen crossed the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Sources indicate that the border violator is a man approximately 47 years old and a civilian.
As reported by the media, the Azerbaijani citizen crossed the border to avoid criminal liability. He breached the border in the direction of the village of Artanish in the Gegharkunik province of Armenia and voluntarily surrendered to the border guards.
In response to several inquiries from the media regarding this incident, the National Security Service stated: “The requested information cannot be provided under the Law on Freedom of Information, Article 8, Part 1, Clause 3, as it contains data related to preliminary investigation that is not subject to publication.”
