Man Attempts Self-Immolation in Front of City Hall with Children Present

A man in mid-age attempted to self-immolate moments ago near the entrance of the Yerevan City Hall. The man poured gasoline from a bottle on himself, but police were able to thwart further developments and transferred the individual to the police station while handcuffing him.

Police on the scene indicated that this is not the first time the man has come to the city hall, and they will try to ascertain the issue that brought him there.

Eyewitnesses noted that the man was not alone; he had three small children with him at the city hall. The children were also taken to the police station in a vehicle belonging to one of the drivers of a tourist minibus conducting a protest in the area, in order to be with their father.
