In general, years later, I will have a sense of guilt when my attitude towards the Republican Party softens. That man always wanted to communicate normally, to joke, while I was meeting him with a serious face and harsh reactions. In the end, when I asked for the pen a third time, he pushed the pen that was on the table towards my side and said, 'Take it, I gift it to you.' I wrote, finished, and pushed the pen back towards him, saying, 'Thank you.' He pushed it back towards me and said, 'I sincerely gift it to you.' I pushed it towards him and said, 'No, thank you.' He pushed it back towards me and said, 'Take it, let it be a reminder from the corrupted system.' I pushed it back to him, and I said something definitive, and it was probably clear that I wouldn’t take it, so he didn’t say anything else. At that time, it was a pen worth about 170 drams, but now looking back, I wonder if I might have flattered him, I don’t understand. For them, the pens probably had a fetish. By giving a pen, they wanted to convey certain messages.”
