Compensation for Soldiers Injured During Hostilities: A New Bill
The government today, on December 26, approved amendments to the law on "Compensation for Damage to the Life or Health of Military Personnel During Defense of the Republic of Armenia." According to the amendments, cases of compensation for damage to the life or health of military personnel now include incidents occurring as a result of the adversary's offensive actions.
The Minister informed that, since 2008, ten soldiers have sustained injuries to their life or health due to enemy offensive actions. "In such cases, the status of the soldier has been established as events occurring within the framework of the performance of official duties. However, this does not accurately reflect the actual circumstances of the case and does not provide a sufficiently adequate situation from the standpoint of social security," he said, adding that this will address the inequity.
The bill was approved at the government session and will be forwarded to the National Assembly for ratification.
