Robert Kocharyan Appeals in Support of Those Who Stood by Him

The second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, has addressed a letter to artists and cultural figures who publicly demanded his release from detention. The full text of the letter has been published on the Facebook page of the Robert Kocharyan Freedom Committee.

In the letter, he notably states:
“Dear friends, I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the statement published on your behalf calling for my release from detention. Thank you and I am touched by your support. The attention and care of such a talented, well-known, and esteemed group of individuals honor any political or state figure. I personally know many of you, and I look forward to getting acquainted with those I have not met at the first opportunity.”

“I would like to emphasize your civic position and courage, which allowed you to express your views without heeding the authorities' perspective. I would like you to know: the issue is not only about illegal detention. It concerns legal lawlessness, political persecution, and the dismantling of our identity.”

“Dear friends, once again expressing my sincere thanks to all of you, I want to congratulate you on the upcoming holidays. Wishing you health and prosperity for you and your families. Sincerely, Robert Kocharyan.”
