Loud Outcry in the Law Enforcement System
According to the ‘Zhoghovurd’ newspaper, there has been a significant uproar in the law enforcement system. Sources indicate that investigators from preliminary investigation bodies are sounding the alarm, stating that courts are effectively imposing lenient penalties on individuals convicted of numerous crimes.
The issue particularly concerns those convicted of theft. For instance, law enforcement officials are expressing dissatisfaction that individuals who have been convicted multiple times for theft are often sentenced to fines or are released on bail.
The result is that the same criminal frequently commits theft again from another residence. The law enforcement system attributes the recent surge in thefts, in part, to this very fact.
Moreover, they have also begun to target officials, as evidenced by the robbery of the private residence of Anna Badalyan, head of the statistical department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, on December 21.
