Statement Regarding Davit Khachakyan by Edmon Marukyan
Edmon Marukyan has issued a statement regarding Davit Khachakyan.
“On December 17, the president of the Bright Armenia party, Edmon Marukyan, and vice president Mane Tandilyan announced that, based on citizens' feedback and various other factors, the governing council of the Bright Armenia party is considering the continuation of its participation in the Yerevan City Council and the recall of its sole member, Davit Khachakyan, from the council. During the past week, these circumstances were presented to the public by members of the Bright Armenia party and became a topic of broad public discussion. Following this, our partners from the ‘Republic’ party held a press conference, stating that they do not share our party’s understanding of the presented circumstances, and consider the rhetoric used during City Council sessions as part of the working process.
Taking into account the public response regarding the retention of Davit Khachakyan's mandate and the fact that the LUMINANCE alliance consists of two sovereign parties, and each is entitled to express its preferred rhetoric, the governing council of the Bright Armenia party believes that the framework of responsibility has been clarified as a result of the public discussion that has opened.
Members of the LUMINANCE faction are committed to implementing the alliance's program; however, regarding separate initiatives and political rhetoric, representatives of the two parties are free in their approaches, and each member of the council carries political responsibility for their respective political entity.
Based on the aforementioned, the governing council of the Bright Armenia party has decided to continue its participation in the Yerevan City Council through its sole member, Davit Khachakyan. As in the past, the governing council of the Bright Armenia party fully supports Davit Khachakyan's activities and expects more stringent oversight for the best interests of the residents of Yerevan.
Bright Armenia Party Governance Council,” he wrote.
