Joqovord: Taxi Control to be Strengthened
«Joqovord» newspaper reports that the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia is preparing a legislative draft to regulate the taxi sector. During a conversation with «Joqovord», the head of transport licensing, Arayik Stepanyan, mentioned that control will soon be strengthened for both individual drivers engaged in taxi activities and companies providing online taxi services.
“It is also planned to monitor online systems during the licensing process to check what health issues citizens applying for a license may have. The question of monitoring the technical condition of vehicles is still under discussion,” Arayik Stepanyan conveyed.
Our interlocutor asserted that control will also be reinforced in technical inspection facilities to ensure that technical inspections are substantive rather than formal. According to the specialist, under the current law, taxi activities are subject to licensing, but the established state fee has been removed.
