Fact: 'Tavush' Water Supply Company Noyemberyan Unit Head Asked to Resign for Letter to Prime Minister
According to the 'Fact' newspaper, recently about 70 employees of the 'Tavush' Water Supply Company Noyemberyan unit sent a letter to Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, informing him that their salaries for August have not been paid partially, and for September, October, and November completely. The employees have sought the Prime Minister’s support to ensure that their meager salaries are paid before the New Year.
Moreover, during the irrigation season, the collection of water payments amounted to 93 percent (around 54 million drams), yet the employees have been told by the company's management that there is no money for salaries.
However, the 'show' does not end there. According to the 'Fact' newspaper, following this letter, Harutyun Ghulyan, the deputy chairman of the Water Committee of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, demanded Noyemberyan unit head Gagik Veranyan to submit a resignation letter. Ghulyan accused Veranyan of 'anti-premiership,' claiming that he had spoken negatively about Pashinyan.
In reality, the main reason was the aforementioned letter. The workers are not asking for large bonuses or luxuries; they are merely requesting payment for the money they have earned over the months.
It is worth noting that the salaries of pump operators and water distributors amount to 55-60 thousand drams, while managerial salaries average about 90 thousand drams. This means that even such small amounts are not being received for months, and those who appeal to the country's Prime Minister risk losing their jobs.
