Arzrun Hovhannisyan Comments on the Incident of Soldier Escaping from Military Unit

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Arzrun Hovhannisyan, has addressed the incident involving a soldier who escaped from the military unit operating under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense.

"Private Sh.S.A. had been convicted twice before being conscripted into the army. During his service, a criminal case was initiated regarding an incident that occurred before his conscription, leading to his arrest, and a measure of restraint was applied to him for a year. After a year, when the measure of restraint was changed as required by law, he was transferred to a military unit under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense, where he took advantage of the situation and escaped," Hovhannisyan stated.

It is noteworthy that about 15 days ago, a soldier had voluntarily left the special detachment of the military police of the Ministry of Defense. A search for the soldier has been announced, but he has not yet been found. Following this incident, the commander of the military unit has been reassigned to another position.
