Armenian Chess Players Participate in the Sitges International Tournament
Armenian grandmasters have successfully started at the international tournament in Sitges, Spain. The Sitges International Tournament has commenced in the Spanish town of Sitges, featuring 311 chess players from 56 countries, including 55 grandmasters. Among the participants is also the renowned Ukrainian grandmaster Vasily Ivanchuk.
Representing Armenia in the Sitges tournament are grandmasters Hrant Melkumyan, Manuel Petrosyan, Tigran Harutyunyan, and FIDE master David Davtyan. After 6 rounds of play, the standings are led by grandmaster Anton Korobov with 6 points. Tigran Harutyunyan has scored 4.5 points, Hrant Melkumyan and Manuel Petrosyan have 4 points each, while David Davtyan has 3 points.
