Authorities in Negotiations with Russia for Purchasing Ferries, Says Mikayel Melkumyan
“The authorities of Armenia are currently negotiating for the acquisition of two ferries for cargo transportation across the Black Sea,” said Mikayel Melkumyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia party, during a conversation with reporters at the National Assembly.
According to him, when the Crimean Bridge was constructed, the Russian side had several free ferries that were of interest to the Armenian side. “And I believe that this issue can be resolved at a quite reasonable price. The negotiations are ongoing, and we will see how events unfold,” he stated.
Melkumyan expressed hope that in some time, Armenia will be able to open a terminal in Poti, similar to Kazakhstan.
