The head of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations' Meteorological Service, Gagik Surenyan, made the following post on his Facebook page:
“The coldest December in a century was recorded in Armenia in 1953, particularly in the Ararat Plain, where the monthly average air temperature was 10-12 degrees lower than normal. By the end of the month, nighttime temperatures dropped to as low as -30 degrees Celsius. P.S. Dear cold lovers, what would you do if such a thing happened?”
