Mikhran Poghosyan's Preventive Measure in Russia Lifted: Prosecutor's Office
The preventive measure selected against former head of the enforcement service of judicial acts, Mikhran Poghosyan, in Russia has been lifted. This information was reported by the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General's Office.
Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office had stated that as a result of cooperation between the Armenian and Russian Prosecutor's Offices, on April 23, a Russian court accepted the request of the Russian Prosecutor's Office to detain Mikhran Poghosyan for 40 days to discuss the issue of his extradition to Armenia.
It should be reminded that according to the charges, Mikhran Poghosyan, from June 11, 2008, while serving as the Chief Enforcement Officer of Armenia, appointed a person responsible for his personal safety as a first-grade advisor to the operational division of the Ministry of Justice's Enforcement Service, and his personal driver as a leading advisor in the same division.
These individuals, as employees of the specified division, did not actually attend work and did not fulfill duties corresponding to their positions, but instead performed personal assignments for Mikhran Poghosyan, while receiving salaries and equivalent payments amounting to a total of 44,199,463 AMD on his orders.
As a result, Mikhran Poghosyan misappropriated a particularly large amount of funds, totaling 44,199,463 AMD, from the public budget by abusing his official position. Furthermore, utilizing his official position against the interests of service, he signed contracts for the procurement of goods and the provision of services through trusted individuals with organizations engaged in entrepreneurial activities that he managed, in violation of legal requirements and government decisions.
