No Immediate Evacuation Issue for Our Citizens in Syria: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement providing details about the situation in Syria and the process of relocating our citizens to safer areas.

“In connection with the situation created as a result of military operations conducted by Turkey in northern Syria, the Armenian Embassy in Damascus and the Consulate General in Aleppo are working in emergency mode. The Armenian diplomatic missions maintain constant communication with community structures in Kamishly city and other northern areas of Syria.

We are monitoring the developments closely. Together with the Armenian leadership in Damascus and Aleppo, possible steps are being developed to ensure temporary shelter for our citizens who wish to relocate from northern Syria and to provide first aid if necessary.

More than ten Armenian families from the town of Tel Abyad, directly located in the area of military operations, have already independently left their residences and moved to safer areas (Aleppo and Hassake). Currently, there is no immediate evacuation issue for our citizens. According to our information, the number of Armenians in the northern regions of Syria is about 3,000 people,” the statement reads.
