Hayk Melikyan Holds Meetings with Ambassadors

According to the newspaper «Hraparak», the President of the Constitutional Court is holding meetings with ambassadors from Germany and China. Previously, after a similar meeting, the Russian ambassador was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) for clarification.

The visit of the German ambassador was reported to be a courtesy call. We inquired at the MFA whether it is possible for the ambassadors of Germany and China to be invited for questioning as well. The spokesperson stated, “As far as I know, there is currently no meeting scheduled.”

Meanwhile, the authorities are holding their breath as they await whether the Constitutional Court will take up their legislative initiative or not. Our sources indicate that both options are possible. There is a seven-day timeframe. The reason for rejection could be if the ‘case’ is deemed unfounded or if there are procedural violations.

Are there any pressures on the members of the Constitutional Court from the authorities? “There is nothing visible at this moment, the atmosphere is still normal,” they reported.
