Iran Launches Unexpected Military Exercises Near Turkey Border
The armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran have unexpectedly begun military exercises near the Turkish-Syrian border. The drills are taking place in an area close to the city of Urmia, located 50 kilometers from the Turkish-Iranian border, as reported by Ermenihaber.
The exercises are being conducted under the leadership of Iranian Army General Abdulrahim Mousavi, with various units of the Iranian ground and air forces participating. The source indicates that the Turkish side was not previously informed about the holding of these exercises.
This military activity comes at a time when Turkey is preparing to launch a military operation against Kurdish militants in Syria, specifically in the eastern part of the Euphrates River.
