‘Zhamanak’ Proposes Introducing Environmental Tax for Waste-Producing Goods
‘Zhamanak’ newspaper reports that Lilit Makunts, the leader of the ‘My Step’ faction, and fellow member Hayk Gevorgyan are proposing to introduce a new tax category—an environmental tax for waste-producing goods. This tax would be levied on imported goods to Armenia and calculated at a rate of 0.5% of the tax base.
It is anticipated that the revenue generated will be directed towards addressing waste management issues. However, this new tax may lead to an increase in the prices of goods by at least 0.5%.
Further details can be found in today's issue of the newspaper.
