Robert Kocharyan's Defense Attorney Aram Vardevanyan Submits Recusal Motion Against Judge Meher Arghamanyan
The defense attorney of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan, Aram Vardevanyan, has today submitted a recusal motion against Judge Meher Arghamanyan of the Court of Appeals. This was announced by the legal team of the second president.
It is noteworthy that Judge Arghamanyan is set to review the appeal to lift the detention measure against Robert Kocharyan.
“We find it important to mention that the person living with Arghamanyan—his son—was involved in the organized protest against Robert Kocharyan in front of the Shengavit Court on September 17 of this year. We draw attention to the fact that it was not a distant relative, but Judge Arghamanyan's own son, David Arghamanyan, who reportedly lives with him, participating in the rally. Additionally, there are substantial doubts regarding the impartiality of this judge, given his quite low rating of -10. According to helpcourt.am, Judge Arghamanyan ranks among the bottom four judges based on this rating. It is also noteworthy that Judge Armen Danielyan had a rating of -7 at the time of reviewing Robert Kocharyan's case,” the statement reads.
