School Principal Charged with Embezzlement
The Investigation Committee of Armenia is conducting an investigation to clarify all circumstances surrounding the misuse of authority by the director of a state non-commercial organization. This was reported by the press service of the Investigation Committee.
During the preliminary investigation, it was established that the principal of the ‘Yerevan Gevorg Vardanyan High School No. 192’ has been in his position since April 2013, having organizational, managerial, and administrative responsibilities. Driven by self-serving motives and personal interests, he allegedly misused his official position against the interests of the service by hiring the same individual, who did not attend work and failed to fulfill their duties, as a laboratory technician from April 2, 2013, to November 7, 2013, and as a psychologist from January 19, 2015, to December 30, 2015.
Moreover, with the intent of embezzling substantial property from the budget, the principal signed and verified false reports with the institution's seal, which served as official documents regarding working hours, leading to a total of 1,161,679 AMD in wages being calculated and paid to the non-attending individual, causing significant material damage to the state.
Based on sufficient evidence obtained, the school principal has been charged under the 1st part of Article 314 and 2nd part of Article 179 (1 and 3 points) of the RA Criminal Code, and a signature not to leave has been chosen as a measure of restraint against him. The investigation is ongoing.
