Jacques Chirac Has Died
Former French President Jacques Chirac has died at the age of 87, as reported by TASS.
It is worth recalling that after completing his studies, Jacques Chirac became a civil servant (auditor of the Court of Accounts, 1959) and then began his political career. In his youth, he was captivated by communist ideologies.
In 1962, he held his first political position as a municipal councilor in Saint-Étienne, later serving as Minister of Agriculture, and then as Prime Minister during the presidency of Giscard d’Estaing. In 1988, he ran in the presidential elections but was defeated by Mitterrand. However, his participation in the 1995 elections proved to be successful.
