Inmates Throw Homemade Objects Containing Flammable Materials from Prison Bars, Fire Erupts
New details have emerged regarding the unrest that occurred at the Nubarashen Penitentiary. According to our information, the inmates' acts of disobedience began around noon; the convicts threw homemade objects containing flammable materials from the prison bars, resulting in a fire breaking out in the grassy area of the detention facility.
The prison administration was forced to call in a firefighting brigade. Meanwhile, some supporters of the inmates arrived by car near the prison building and started making noise; law enforcement officers were called in to disperse them.
It is worth recalling that on September 5, disturbances occurred at the Nubarashen Penitentiary. Our sources report that the convicts began a riot in support of the "zone watchers." Inmates also initiated unrest in other penitentiaries across the republic. Since yesterday, the penitentiary service has been conducting enhanced surveillance in almost all penitentiaries of the republic.
The reason for this is a new bill concerning "thieves in law" and criminal authorities. The corresponding draft bill proposes criminal liability for granting, obtaining, or maintaining a high status within the criminal hierarchy, as well as for creating, leading, participating in, or maintaining criminal subcultures. A person holding a high status in the criminal hierarchy will be considered not only a "thief in law" but also a criminal authority. For "thieves in law," a punishment of 7 to 10 years is envisaged.
