Varuzhan Shahsuvaryan Denies Arsen Torosyan's Claim of Receiving Other Job Offers

After the dismissal of Armen Tananian, the director of the National Oncology Center named after V.A. Fanarjyan, Varuzhan Shahsuvaryan, the deputy director of the Center and an oncologist, refutes Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan's claim that he left because he had received other job offers.

"I deny it. I have always had invitations, even from abroad, as well as from various clinics here," he stated in an interview with NEWS.am.

The doctor emphasized that the order for Armen Tananian's dismissal is unexplained and incomprehensible to him. "I have done a lot for the center; I have worked there for 13 years, and the order for the director's dismissal is unexplained and incomprehensible to me."

However, Varuzhan Shahsuvaryan stressed that he has nothing against the new director of the center. "I have nothing against the new director; he is a very good guy, a very good man, and I know him personally. After his appointment, I was the first to congratulate him and wish him fruitful work because this is an area that should not stand still for even a minute."

He did not want to comment on the effect that the director's dismissal and the tension in the National Oncology Center might have on the center's operations, but underscored that the field is very important, and any disruption is unacceptable.

The oncologist stated he will continue working in urology, although where is still not known.

It is noteworthy that the situation in the National Oncology Center has escalated after Armen Tananian's dismissal. According to media reports, Tananian insisted that the Deputy Minister of Health and the Minister presented him with an ultimatum demanding his resignation, emphasizing that he was offered to either leave voluntarily and hear words of gratitude or he would be dismissed by order. He refused to leave voluntarily.
