Gunfire from a Toyota Highlander Directed at Two Citizens

The investigation is underway in the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of the RA Investigative Committee to clarify the circumstances surrounding the gunshot injuries sustained by two individuals.

On September 4, 2019, at approximately 7:20 PM, a report was received from the "Astghik" medical center stating that two residents of Yerevan, born in 1957 and 1974, had been brought in for medical assistance with gunshot wounds. According to preliminary data, at around 6:50-7:00 PM on the same day, gunfire was opened from a Toyota Highlander vehicle towards the two men in the yard of a building on Andranik Street in Yerevan.

A criminal case has been initiated under the provisions of Article 104, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 6, and Article 235, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code. The two individuals have been recognized as victims.

During the preliminary investigation, urgent investigative actions were carried out, including an examination of the crime scene, where numerous shell casings and blood-like stains were discovered, and samples were collected. The clothing worn by the victims at the time of the incident has also been confiscated.

Several assessments have been appointed to clarify significant circumstances relevant to the criminal case, including forensic medical, ballistic, biological, and genetic examinations. The preliminary investigation continues.

Efforts are being made to ensure a comprehensive, objective, and thorough investigation of all circumstances of the incident, to identify and apprehend the person(s) suspected of committing the crime, and to present them to the prosecuting authority. Instructions have been given to the investigative body.
