Illegal Decision by the Mayor Resulted in the Sale of 10,000 sqm of Victory Park
During the investigation of a criminal case at the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia, it was revealed that a 10,000 sqm plot of land located at 2/5 Freedom Avenue in Yerevan, included in the city's general plan as a public green area, was unlawfully and unjustifiably removed from the territory of Victory Park. This decision was made by the Mayor of Yerevan on March 12, 2008, under the pretext of readjusting the area occupied by Victory Park in accordance with the newly issued master plan.
Subsequently, contrary to the interests of the service, another decision was made by the Mayor on April 8, 2008, to sell the mentioned plot of land, which is included in the list of restrictions prescribed by law and is not subject to alienation, for its cadastral value of 164,760,000 AMD (approximately 16,476 AMD per sqm) through direct sale to
