Suspect Arrested for Stealing Approximately $26,000 from Iranian Businessman

On August 30, police from the Erevan division's criminal investigation department detained 50-year-old Harutun Hambardzumyan, a resident of Yerevan. According to Shamshyan.com, a criminal case has been initiated against him under the first part of the third section of Article 177 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. By the investigator’s decision, H. Hambardzumyan has been arrested.

On August 22 of this year, 47-year-old Mohsen Hassan Toupchehipour Ardali, a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reported to the police that on the same day, between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM, an unknown person or persons had stolen 3,500,000 AMD and $14,500 from the office of “Aria Estil” LLC located at 42 Artsakh Street.

According to information from a photojournalist, the Iranian is the director of the aforementioned company, and the money was kept in a cupboard in a black bag within the office. The suspect, H. Hambardzumyan, was located by Erevan police in the Nor Nork administrative district.
