Laser Lights Used Deliberately to Disrupt Aircraft Operations
The Civil Aviation Committee has issued a statement on its Facebook page urging citizens to refrain from the unnecessary use of laser lights. The announcement specifically states:
“Dear citizens,
Recently, there has been an increase in the use of laser lights for various purposes, ranging from different events to experiments. The incidents that are most concerning for flight safety are those in which laser lights are used deliberately to obstruct the operation of aircraft and, at times, air traffic control points.
The use of laser lights presents greater risks during takeoffs and landings. Specifically, when a laser strikes an aircraft's windshield, it immediately spreads throughout the cockpit, preventing pilots from utilizing the equipment panel and obstructing them from performing established procedures. The use of laser lights can also cause visual problems for pilots, leading to temporary blindness and thereby putting the safe operation of flights at risk.
We urge you to assess the aforementioned potential risks before using laser lights and to avoid unnecessary use of laser lights whenever possible.”
