‘Thief by Law’ Pzon and His Bodyguard Insult Police; 5 Arrested
On August 14, officers from the patrol police regiment received information about a dispute and altercation occurring at a club in the capital. It was determined on-site that a group of individuals was committing hooligan actions in the area adjacent to the club, grossly violating public order and openly showing disrespect towards society.
Exercising their powers as prescribed by law, police officers intervened to disrupt the group violation of public order and apprehended 5 individuals on suspicion of committing a visible crime. One of the apprehended citizens, found to be in an obvious state of intoxication, continued to engage in hooligan actions at the police station, including loudly insulting officers.
A criminal case has been opened at the Central Police Department under Article 258, Part 3, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code, which pertains to hooliganism committed by a group of persons or an organized group. The criminal case has been referred to the Investigative Committee for further investigation.
Regarding the incident, the RA Police stated: “The video quickly spread across the internet. It is surprising that some media representatives and users suggest why the police do not ‘punish’ the man inebriated. The police ensure public order, restore the violated rights of citizens, and establish order within the confines of the law. The role of the police at this stage is not to punish individuals, regardless of the semantic manifestations of that term. The actions of any person who commits an offense are evaluated in accordance with the requirements of the current legislation, resulting in appropriate legal accountability and coercive measures being applied if the actions attributed to any individual are proven in accordance with established procedures.”
