Moldy Lavash Provided to Border Servicemen
Gagik Charkhifalakyanc, a serviceman of the Special Forces of the Armenian Police, recently returned from duty at the frontline. In an interview with Aravot.am, he noted that for perhaps the first time, servicemen on the border were provided with moldy lavash.
“The incident was extraordinary, although they say moldy bread is beneficial for health,” he said, half-jokingly and half-seriously.
Gagik Charkhifalakyanc reported the incident to Sofia Hovhannisyan, a member of the National Assembly from the “My Step” faction. “I want to express my special gratitude to Sofia Hovhannisyan because the situation changed immediately after I informed her. I asked her to pay attention to the companies supplying food to the military unit of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia. They responded immediately from the military unit and the Military Police unit serving that particular unit. If I’m not mistaken, a criminal case has been initiated,” he said.
Gagik Charkhifalakyanc believes many will agree that it is unacceptable to supply substandard food to those stationed at the border. “I am confident this will be the first and last incident,” he added.
