North Korea Tests New Type of Missiles, Reports South Korea
In the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the second short-range missile has successfully traveled a distance of 690 km during testing. This was reported by RIA Novosti. Earlier, it was revealed that at 5:34 and 5:47 in the morning, two missiles were launched, reaching an altitude of up to 50 km before falling into the Sea of Japan. The first missile covered a distance of 430 km.
This test was conducted in Pyongyang after Seoul and Washington decided not to cancel the joint military exercises scheduled for August, which North Korea considers a threat to its security.
The situation on the Korean Peninsula escalated in 2017, when North Korea launched several missiles and conducted nuclear tests, leading to new sanctions and a deterioration in relations between the United States and South Korea.
Following a meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore, tensions lessened, and the parties reached a series of agreements, yet stability in the situation has yet to be achieved.
