VIDEO. I Have Never Driven 'Yandex' Taxi, I Did Not Demand a Receipt at the Gas Station, Says Aragatsotn Governor
I have never wiped my feet on any country's flag. Yes, the flag ended up on the ground during the protest, but it's absurd to present it in that context. They are portraying it as if the governor of Aragatsotn did that. This was stated by Aragatsotn Governor David Gevorgyan during a live broadcast on his Facebook page, responding to reports claiming that he had thrown and trampled the Russian flag during a protest years ago.
The governor said that the incident was mentioned by the head of the LHK faction, Edmond Marukyan, noting that Marukyan is the one inciting anti-Russian sentiments today.
He also denied other claims associated with his name. “I have never driven a 'Yandex' taxi, but if I had ever driven a taxi, I would honestly speak about it because it's not serving criminal elements, it’s not about dodging responsibility; I would proudly mention that,” he stated.
Gevorgyan also dismissed rumors that he had entered a gas station and demanded a receipt, and after not receiving it, had let his hands go free.
Regarding the reports that he regularly checks on the work being done by the staff at the governor's office, he commented, “What’s wrong with that? It could happen several times that I enter the office and ask the employee what they are working on, what they will do; what criminal act is there in that?”
David Gevorgyan mentioned that a few days ago he witnessed a disturbing scene in Yerevan where a group of young people were beating a man. “I stopped, approached the citizen; unfortunately, the passing cars weren’t stopping… I approached the citizen, and it seemed that the young people were drunk; by the time the police arrived at the scene, they had already hit the citizen again…”
According to the governor, law enforcement agencies should address such phenomena, and Armenia must be a safe country.
