Multiple Options to Decongest Yerevan City Center, Mayor Elaborates
Several options for decongesting Yerevan's city center are under discussion. Yerevan's Mayor Hayk Marutyan made this statement during a press conference today, emphasizing that worldwide, the strategy for relieving city centers involves implementing certain restrictions.
“The first approach is simply to limit the entry of large vehicles. This can be done by restricting access based on license plates, which is the most stringent method. There is also a more subtle approach involving the increase of parking fees,” the mayor noted, adding that a decision is currently being formulated, but it will be announced once it is finalized.
When journalists reminded the mayor that just days ago, the Prime Minister mentioned in a press conference that there is a person with 250 properties in the center, Marutyan responded to the question of who the Prime Minister was referring to: “I believe soon everyone will know. That falls under the jurisdiction of law enforcement, and I will not intervene in that area.”
