Video: Nazeni Gharybiyan Funded Those Who Complained Against the Opera, LHK MP Says
The Acting Minister of Culture, Nazeni Gharybiyan, has funded individuals who wrote complaints against the Opera. This was stated today in the National Assembly by Anna Kostanyan, a member of the "Enlightened Armenia" faction, while discussing the situation surrounding the dismissal of Konstantin Orbelian, the artistic director and director of the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet.
“There are reports circulating these days that the 92 million drams debt or loss discovered by supervisory bodies, which was highlighted by the Acting Minister of Culture Nazeni Gharybiyan, occurred between 2014-2016. This was under the 'Support Fund for the Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet', which was established alongside the Opera. The 92 million drams deficit accumulated well before Orbelian's tenure, specifically between 2014-2016, before his appointment in 2017,” said the LHK MP.
According to her, a few days ago, the Ministry of Culture, under Nazeni Gharybiyan’s leadership, provided financial support to various funds for the implementation of different cultural programs, including the Theatre Support Foundation, while denying support to projects that were more deserving of financial assistance.
“Acting Culture Minister Nazeni Gharybiyan, who has been the head of the commission, funded those individuals who wrote complaints against the Opera,” she stated.
