Alexandre Sargsyan Resolves Son's Issues Abroad: Details
Alexandre Sargsyan, brother of the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, is currently in Europe. This information was shared by his son, Haik Sargsyan, who is a defendant in a criminal case, in response to journalists' questions at the court today.
He mentioned that he communicates with his father daily via phone.
When asked whether Alexandre Sargsyan intends to return to Armenia, Haik Sargsyan replied, “He intends to, doesn’t he? But I can’t say when.”
Haik Sargsyan also noted that he is not aware of reports claiming that Narek Sargsyan has sought political asylum from the authorities in the Czech Republic.
He added that he is also unaware of his brother’s extradition process. When asked if his father mentions anything about his brother during their conversations, Sargsyan answered, “We don’t talk about that on the phone.”
Earlier, it was reported that Alexandre Sargsyan had been taken in by law enforcement twice during June and July of 2018 and was released both times. The first instance was on suspicion of illegal possession of weapons, which was later clarified to indicate that the weapon in question was legal. The second time, he was detained by the National Security Service (NSS), and it later became known that charges had been brought against him for fraudulently acquiring 14 drawings by Martiros Saryan.
