What Humanitarian Measures Were Discussed at the Pashinyan-Aliev Meeting
On April 8, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan answered journalists' questions after a meeting with the "My Step" faction in parliament. In response to SHANTNEWS.am's question regarding the announced humanitarian steps following his meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Pashinyan stated:
"In this regard, I hope that we can guarantee the safety of agricultural work on both sides. We are prepared to guarantee that our forces will not open fire on any civilian, especially those engaged in agricultural activities. If Azerbaijan reaffirms this readiness, we can achieve this."
The Prime Minister noted that there are also several other potential humanitarian measures, but the beneficiaries must also be willing to take advantage of those opportunities. He confirmed that this refers to allowing the families of prisoners to have visits with their loved ones.
"We are very close to creating that opportunity, but we do not know if the families on both sides will want to take advantage of this chance, because I do not rule out that, for various reasons, they may not wish to do so. It is understandable, is it not? It's not an easy decision," he said.
