Armenian National Security Service Violates Presumption of Innocence in Sedrak Kocharyan Case, Court Confirms

The Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court, presided over by Arman Hovhannisyan, on April 5, supported the appeal of Sedrak Kocharyan's defense team, acknowledging that the National Security Service (NSS) had violated the presumption of innocence.

This information was reported by Sedrak Kocharyan's legal representatives.

Recall that on February 19, 2019, the NSS issued an official statement titled "Announcement regarding the criminal case of Sedrak Kocharyan," stating that serious crimes of tax evasion and legalizing income acquired through criminal means had been uncovered, with direct involvement attributed to Sedrak Kocharyan, the son of Armenia's second president Robert Kocharyan.

Kocharyan's defense team argued that the NSS's statement violated Sedrak Kocharyan's presumption of innocence and subsequently filed a complaint to the court.
