You Have Plundered and Looted Your Entire Life to Secure Status for Yourself and Your Children: Styopa Safaryan

You have plundered and looted your entire life to secure status for yourself and your children, amassing wealth to show off and flaunt. This was stated by political scientist Styopa Safaryan on his Facebook page, referencing news about the detention of Gagik Khachatryan and his bodyguards.

In his post, the political scientist added:

“It’s a syndrome of the starving person, we can somewhat understand. The folk saying goes, ‘a beggar will never become a pasha,’ or ‘you can’t surprise a well-fed person, an aristocrat, or a noble with anything, nor can he with others.’ Your behavior has revealed that by your very genes and lineage, you have never been such and will never be, regardless of what palatial houses you buy. But let me return to what I was saying: you have done all this to feel good, as if at least with such status, with showy things. And now the whole world is laughing at you over this news, that as Pashinyan said, you have been laid against the walls and sprawled on the asphalt for your ignorance. Are your sons and family going to feel good about this massive embarrassment, where their father has been laid out on the ground, detained, and humiliated... I don’t know. I want to believe they won’t, perhaps they will feel ashamed. Why do you act like this in society? And most importantly: you won’t believe it, but I will be the first to support the bill that gives the public the right to spit on and throw stones at everyone living such an unseeing lower-class life... It is time everyone understands one thing: if they want to live a sheik-like life, then let them gather with their families and go to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, or any other similar country. The Armenian people are historically a vibrant representative of a secular, southeastern European-Mediterranean culture, and let this sultanate be transferred to where they want with their families, but not to Armenia. Gather and get lost, you have no place in Armenia with such morals.”
