Stork Shot in Armavir

A stork has been killed in the village of Gay in the Armavir region of Armenia. Witnesses claim that the bird was shot.

This was reported to Sputnik Armenia by Facebook user Anna Margaryan, who recounted how they spent an entire day trying to save the injured bird, but could not find any government body to assist with injured wildlife.

“The blood stains were dry. We assumed they were a day old. There was a definite open penetrating wound in the chest and wing area; its legs were completely covered in blood,” our interlocutor recounted.

The stork was seen by chance in the yard of one of the village houses. Initially, they were surprised that their presence did not frighten the bird.

“We were astonished that the stork was not afraid and did not fly away upon our approach. Later we noticed that the stork was injured, with bloodstains on it, and it was visibly weak, even leaning its beak on the ground to avoid falling,” Anna Margaryan said.
