Police Prevents Clashes Between Clergy and Activists
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that on Saturday, activists of the "New Armenia - New Catholicos" movement once again held a protest in the courtyard of St. Anna Church in the capital, demanding the resignation of the Catholicos.
We learned that the clash between the church clergy and the activists was only avoided due to the intervention of a large police presence. Being informed in advance about the protest, police had 'ambushed' the vicinity of the church.
The police prevented the confrontation between the clergy and the activists. The movement's activists have decided to hold protests every week.
