8 People Have Died Due to Abnormal Cold in the US
In the United States, eight people have died due to extreme cold temperatures. In some areas of the US, temperatures are colder than in Antarctica. In Chicago, temperatures have dropped to -30 degrees Celsius, -37 in North Dakota, and -50 in Minnesota.
The severe frost is expected to remain for several more days. Local meteorological services have urged residents to stay indoors. Schools are closed, and thousands of flights have been canceled.
Reports indicate that in Chicago, railroad tracks are being heated because at -33 degrees, metals contract and move apart.
