Street Vendors Clash with City Council Member
Today, street vendors gathered near the Yerevan city hall and clashed with city council members. They demanded permission to continue street trading and wanted to meet with the mayor.
The citizens insisted that for four years, the previous authorities had summoned them to the city hall and told them to apply for a trading permit.
“We are told to write an application for permission for street trading. During the previous administration, we came here multiple times over the past four years, and after writing the application, we were told to go and let the district administration finalize the permit. We were given a draft to work according to. Now, we come here and are told that street trading is prohibited,” the citizens stated.
City council member Arthur Isperyan urged the vendors to move their operations to the market and work in a dignified and sanitary environment.
