Pashinyan Still Has Concessions to Make to Azerbaijan - Levon Khachaturyan

Levon Khachaturyan, a member of the "Hayastan" faction, has stated that the criminal case against his father, former President Robert Kocharian, has a geopolitical nature.

"There is no criminal case as such, there is no legal process; this is simply a collection of absurdities. There is no evidence, everything is built on some assumptions," he said in a conversation with reporters.

Khachaturyan claims that the authorities are trying to suppress potential centers of resistance and "cleanse the political field." He has suggested that this may also be related to further concessions to Azerbaijan and Turkey.

"He still has to make concessions to Azerbaijan and Turkey. Perhaps by detaining my father, he is also trying to please Aliyev," the MP said.

Commenting on Robert Kocharian's health condition, Levon Khachaturyan noted that he visited his father on August 31. According to him, the ex-president requires at least one month of medical supervision following heart surgery.

The MP also mentioned that as of September 1, the lawyers had still not received the first-instance court's decision on the measure of restraint. After receiving it, the defense team plans to appeal the decision.
