Pressure on Russia Will Increase: Von der Leyen Sends Stern Message to Moscow

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, characterized the terrorist attack that took place in Leipzig, Germany, as a new phase of escalation in the European Union. She made this statement during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, as reported by The Guardian.

According to the head of the European Commission, the attack was carried out using military equipment, which she claims is backed by Russian agents. Von der Leyen noted that if the plan had succeeded, it could have resulted in significant human casualties and material damage, emphasizing that the alliance will not tolerate such actions.

The Brussels representative stressed that any attempt to terrorize Europe will in no way affect the support provided to Ukraine; rather, it will reinforce the determination of partners. She also called for tightening the sanctions regime against Moscow, underscoring the necessity to close all possible circumvention routes.

According to von der Leyen, the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance will not only maintain but will gradually strengthen the pressure exerted on Russia.
