Germany Accuses Russia of Attempting Sabotage at Leipzig Airport

Germany has officially accused Russia of attempting sabotage at the Leipzig-Halle Airport. This was announced by Germany's Foreign Minister Johan Wadephul and Interior Minister Alexander Dobrinth.

The incident in question occurred during the night of August 4-5. An explosive device-equipped drone was found near one of the airport's runways, which was neutralized by a bomb disposal robot. According to forensic data, the explosive device attached to the drone contained PETN and Semtex-type explosives.

According to Dobrinth, German authorities have come to the conclusion regarding Russia’s possible involvement after examining the technologies used during the attempted sabotage and other intelligence information. The German Interior Minister described the incident as part of Russia's “hybrid warfare” against European allies of Ukraine.

In response, Berlin announced the closure of the Russian consulate in Bonn and the “Russian House” operating in Berlin.

The Russian side has previously denied allegations of possible involvement, labeling them as a “fabricated provocation” and a “new wave of anti-Russian hysteria in Germany.”
