EU Warns of Worst Winter Ahead for Ukraine
The upcoming winter could be the worst of the entire conflict for Ukraine. This was stated by EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Olha Kos.
"We will discuss how we can assist Ukraine more in preparing for a winter that could be the worst," she told reporters ahead of an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers in Ireland.
Earlier, the head of the Kharkiv regional administration, Oleg Synegubov, mentioned that the region will likely lack heating and electricity during winter. At the same time, Ukraine's Minister of Energy, Denis Shmyhal, has not ruled out new disruptions to Ukrainian energy facilities. He noted that the energy system is crucial for everything—heat, water, light, logistics, and the economy.
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated after the SCO summit in Bishkek that in response to attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure and oil refineries by the Ukrainian armed forces, the Russian army has been ordered to prepare for massive strikes against Ukrainian energy facilities.
